Pink sand on Eleuthera/Harbour Island

Eleuthera, first settled in 1648, is perhaps the best known of the Out Islands. Shaped like a praying mantis, the island is just under 5 miles wide and 110 miles long. The magnificent glass window bridge to the north of the island offers spectacular views of the deep blue Atlantic on one side, and the turquoise Caribbean Sea on the other. Eleuthera attracts people who wish to explore its terrain, either by bicycle or car, and see nature in its unspoilt state. Visitors can visit the island's scattered settlements, grottos and hidden caves, which combine to create Eleuthera's remote and laid-back ambiance. Together with Harbour Island, Eleuthera charms travellers with its colonial villages and pineapple plantations.
